Bon Voyage is a five minute animation made in September 2020 as part of a collaboration with my mother, Marianne Kaars Sijpesteijn-Bos, a fine artist in The Hague who makes graphic works and collages.
The film was based on a giant leporello by Marianne, inspired by the book Candide, by Voltaire. Part of Bon Voyage was shown in the exhibition “Tekeningen van Thea en Marianne” at the Firma van Drie in Gouda, October 2019. Upon completion, both the final film and the collage were shown at the Haagse Kunstkring for the exhibition “We zien wel waar het schip strandt”, an exhibition for comics, cartoons, and other kinds of visual storytelling media on the 24th of November, 2020.
